BBC launches disabled work scheme The BBC has launched a new employment scheme for disabled people. ?Extend Online? offers people with disabilities twelve weeks paid work experience on one of a number of regional internet sites across England. The placements tie in with a new BBC service being launched over the next year. In this time, local radio stations are to establish ?Where You Live" online sites which will cover local stories and community events to "reflect the richness, diversity and uniqueness of their areas". The scheme comprises one week's intensive training in Bristol, plus 11 weeks work experience on a regional online site. The The in-house training ? in June, July and August - lasts for 11 weeks and will be based in either Newcastle, Manchester, Norwich, Southampton or Plymouth. The BBC is asking for ?ideas? people with enthusiasm and an interest in communities as well as first-hand knowledge of IT and website design.
