New cash guide for people with learning disabilities
A new banking guide designed for people with learning disabilities has been published. The easy-to-read and colourful guide, pioneered by The Employers? Forum on Disability in partnership with People First and Barclays, introduces the basics of day-to-day money management. Included in ?It?s Your Money? are sections on understanding pay-cheques and cash machines. Martin Mosley, Barclays Consumer & Community Affairs Director said: "We are concerned that many people find banks overwhelming and difficult to access. ?This booklet should provide the information people want, such as how to open a bank account and how to keep track of their money in a format which is accessible and easy to understand." Susan Scott-Parker, Employers? Forum chief executive, added: ?We believe the guide will also be welcomed by people with English as a second language, people who dislike complex documents and perhaps even school leavers opening their first accounts.? 200,000 copies of the guide will be circulated to disability groups around the UK free of charge.
