Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson to speak at Beyond Boundaries Live

The show is the first of its kind in the UK and will take place in Surrey on June 29-30.

Eleven times Paralympic gold medal winner Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson DBE will be a keynote speaker at the national consumer show Beyond Boundaries Live.

The show, which will offer disabled visitors the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of activities, is the first event of its kind in the UK. It will take place at Sandown Park in Esher, Surrey, on June 29 and 30.

Media personality and winner of the London Wheelchair Marathon on six occasions, Dame Tanni is an articulate and inspirational speaker on topics of achievement, diversity and motivation. Dame Tanni relates her sporting experiences to the importance of planning for success, team work, forward-vision, the challenges and choices in her life and making dreams come true.

She said: "I'm delighted to see Beyond Boundaries Live taking place. It's time for a show that's a bit more edgy. An event that shows people how they can get involved in sport, go on exciting holidays and live life to the full."

Other seminars at the event will feature Olympian Ade Adepitan MBE, the face of the BBC wheelchair dancing trailer, X factor finalist Kerry McGregor and Stuart Boreham, the first disabled person to row across any ocean unassisted.

Jim Bonney, the Royal Marines only 'operationally deployable' amputee and Colin Javens, whose 'Drive Home' quest saw him use a tiny movement in his wrist to drive from Stoke Mandeville hospital to Cape Town will also be speaking.

Visitors will also be able to learn to play basketball with members of the GB Wheelchair Basketball Team, try wheelchair rock climbing or learn how to cast off with British Disabled Angling at the interactive sports demonstration area.

Beyond Boundaries Live will showcase a wide range of suppliers to the disability sector who will be exhibiting a wide range of products and services, from wheelchairs and prosthetics to cars and specialist holidays.

Event organiser Rob Sherwood said: "Central to the show is a 'can do' attitude, and not viewing disability as inability. Visitors will be able to participate in some fantastic activities and also hear from a whole range of inspiring speakers."
