Disability Bits

Disability Bits

After a long time first at Motability and then Aspect, also with my time on Youreable, I noticed that a lot of people were either searching for used mobility items - anything from a tin opener to a motorhome, or looking for ways of shifting their old disability equipment without having to fork out typically £30 - £50 for an advert in a specialist publication or on an auction website.

Unfortunately these two choices pretty much had a stranglehold on the options available if you wanted to reach the maximum audience that was relevant. Paying £50 for an advert to sell a walking stick or a key extender just doesn't make sense so people tend not to bother.

On a similar note, where were you able to place an advert detailing that vital bit of gear that you needed? again, nowhere that was that successful or free.

In the days of inexpensive website hosting and cheap domain names, it made sense to make a place to go that was open to anyone, free to use, free to browse, and without traders.

So, after a few months and some homework, www.disabilitybits.co.uk was born.

We offer a simple forum setup where you register for free, list your item for sale or item wanted, and then wait to see who can help out. Simple!

But, we are nothing without our members, so the more that join up, the more likely it is that people can help each other out.

The site will always be free to use and doesn't ask for personal information. All we ask for is an email address so that we and only we can keep you updated with any exciting news about the site. We are staffed entirely by volunteers and always open to feedback from our members.

The site is now live and our member list is steadily growing, but we are always happy to see more! and between myself and Gerry, our ever present Moderator! there is usually someone online that can assist you at any time
