More older and disabled people benefit from advice, thanks to national Helpline's new, improved telephone system.
More older and disabled people are able to obtain advice from the Disabled Living Foundation (DLF)'s national Helpline providing free, impartial advice on equipment for older and disabled people thanks to its new telephone system. Members of the public can now leave messages on the Helpline's voicemail in order for an advisor to call them back with the advice they need. This new service not only ensures that all enquiries are dealt with, it also allows the public to phone outside the Helpline's opening hours if that is more convenient and will result in shorter queuing times. Bob Ross, DLF Helpline Co-ordinator comments "We are absolutely thrilled with the new telephone system. It has enabled us to speak to many more callers as we are now able to phone them back and feedback has been extremely positive. It is also great to feel confident that we have spoken to everyone who has contacted us throughout the day." Using its extensive database of equipment (DLF Data), the DLF Helpline responded to over 21,000 calls in 2006 and expects to reach more people in 2007 thanks to the new telephone system. The Helpline is open 10am-4pm, Monday to Friday and can be contacted by calling 0845 130 9177 (textphone 020 7432 8009) or emailing advice@dlf.org.uk Calls are charged at a local rate.
