Wheelchair users on ice world record attempt
An unusual Guinness World Records attempt will take place at the Eden Project, St Austell, Cornwall on Saturday 19 January 2008. Wheelchair users from all over the country are being invited to establish a world record for the largest ever gathering on ice. This is a record that has never been set before. The record attempt is being coordinated by Leanne Grose to celebrate the launch of her DVD Leanne's Chair Workout - which was filmed at the Eden Project. Over 60 wheelchair users have already pre-registered. Leanne, who had her left leg amputated at the age of 25, says: "There are not many opportunities for people in wheelchairs to get involved in exercise and set world records, I wanted to do something which every wheelchair user could join in with and have fun." "Being on the ice at the Eden Project is a wonderful experience and the whole place is just great. I'm sure everybody who takes part will get a real buzz from it." The record attempt will take place from 11am and all wheelchair users and their carers will get free entry to the Eden Project. All those who take part will receive a special certificate. In addition to the record attempt, there will be a special display by the Cornish Wheelchair Dance Group, Leanne will give a motivational talk and will be available to sign copies of her new autobiography, Just A Step, and her DVD, Leanne's Chair Workout between 12.30pm - 2.00pm. www.edenproject.com
