Great Ideas for Accessible Living at the Mobility Roadshow

This annual event, the largest of its kind in the world, takes place this year from Thursday 19 July to Saturday 21 July at Kemble Airfield near Cirencester, open from 10.00 am daily.

If life would be a little easier with a walk-in shower, a turning kitchen larder or something as simple as a gadget to feed your cat or dog without bending down, at next week's Mobility Roadshow in the new Lifestyle Zone you'll find great ideas to aid mobility at home.

B&Q has chosen the Roadshow to launch its Easy Living bathroom collection, designed to deliver readily available, affordable, stylish solutions for accessible bathrooms.

The new Freedom suite has a lowered front edge, enabling easy access and seating at multi-levels, allowing you to lower yourself into the water.

For wheelchair users this suite also comes with a semi-pedestal basin for access flush up to the basin.

In addition there are easy access shower enclosures, a one-touch shower and luxury body dryer - operated easily with remote control.

There are lots of new ideas for bathrooms, including Practical Bathing Ltd launching its Sierra range of walk-in baths including one that the company says is the smallest walk-in bath available. Astor Bannerman is introducing its new Interbath model with drop down front panel. The Walk-in Bath Company has a new shower cubicle with easy access for all-over showering and the Bathing made Easy website from the Disabled Living Foundation is designed to help make informed choices about bathroom equipment.

Astor Bannerman also offers help in the kitchen with height-adjustable furniture. A new Turning Larder for the kitchen is being launched by Herbert Direct, which is also showing its wirework storage systems for kitchen cupboards, designed to improve accessibility and functionality for disabled and older people.

BSkyB has the UK's first Easy Grip remote control for digital satellite with larger and bolder graphics for easier button identification.

You'll find adjustable beds at Adjustamatic, Bakare Beds and Teme Valley Beds, and from Sussex Wheelchair Platforms, an indoor lift for the home - an alternative to stair lifts.

If you are not as flexible as you used to be, exhibitor DinnerUp has developed a concept for a pet feeding device that fits against any kitchen unit or wall and doesn't involve bending down. This is a practical 'hands on' show where you can try out a wealth of useful solutions designed to make mobility easier whether driving, moving out and about and in your home.

And for a fully accessible home on wheels, check out the UK's first Winnebago Ability Equipped motorhome, courtesy of Nirvana Motorhomes.

As well as vehicles to test drive, adaptations and conversions, from around 220 exhibitors there will be scooters, trikes and wheelchairs, mobility aids and outdoor living and recreation, plus a large number of information and charity organisations offering information and impartial advice.

This year also sees a new Holiday Village, Sports Arena and Flying Zone with opportunities to take part.

With free parking and entry, crèche facilities for children and dogs, wheelchair and scooter loans, and entertainment for young visitors, this is a great day out for all the family.
