Amateur swimming association and Kellog's pool together to recognise & reward the disability swimmer of the year.
Kellogg's has joined forces with the Amateur Swimming Association to find the 2007 Disability Swimmer of the Year as part of its annual Swimtastic Awards. Judges are looking to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of someone with a disability for whom swimming has had a real impact. David Sparks, CEO of the ASA, comments: "The Swimtastic Awards are now in their 10th year and they continue to grow year on year. The Disability Swimmer category recognises people with a disability that have been working through the Kellogg's ASA Awards Scheme. Thanks to the additional funding from Kellogg's the awards have been reformatted and now celebrates swimmers in ten different categories. We encourage everyone to consider the Awards and if they know someone who fits the bill, then nominate them in recognition of what they've achieved in the pool. The Awards aren't just about elite swimmers, they recognise the extraordinary achievements of ordinary people of all ages and abilities." Bruce Learner, Community and Social Responsibility Manager from Kellogg's says: "Over 11 million Kellogg's ASA Awards have been presented to date with 2 million in 2006 being our best year yet! The Swimtastic Awards offers a great opportunity to really celebrate outstanding individuals of all abilities, who've accomplished personal success in the pool, and to come together to recognise their achievements." The Disability Swimmer of the Year award is one of ten in the Swimtastic Awards. Winners in each category will be announced in August and will be invited to attend a glittering awards ceremony to be held in Stratford-upon-Avon in October.
