The DRC Leadership Team
Creating a society where all disabled people can participate fully as equal citizens should not simply be an aspiration, but a right. To achieve this, it is critical that disabled people become leaders in all areas of public life. The DRC Leadership Team is working to increase opportunities for disabled people to play a significant role in public, community and civil life. Through research, guidance and awareness-raising, DRC aims to influence the removal of barriers, whilst making an impact on skills development for disabled people. Currently, the DRC is engaging with disabled people who want to explore their future as leaders. Leadership can cover a broad range of roles, for example, you might want to:
Last year the Disability Rights Commission (DRC) ran Leadership Conferences in Scotland and England to encourage disabled people to get further involved in leading their communities. This summer the DRC are running Leadership Forums, smaller events with the opportunity for you to receive individual advice and guidance as you 'Explore your future as a leader.' Wherever your leadership ambition lies, the DRC Leadership Forum will give you an opportunity to meet with experts to realistically plan how to achieve your goals, helping you to give even more back to your community. The Leadership Forums this year will be held in Londonon 7 June, Swanseaon 15 June, Glasgow on 26 June and Sheffieldon 12 July.
