Help keep the wheels turning for equality
Support disabled people and enjoy a 'wheelie' fun day out with family and friends! Calling all skateboarders, rollerbladers, wheelchair users, cyclists and walkers. Disability charity Scope is looking for enthusiastic people of all ages to take part in a special 'roll or stroll' fun day in one of London's most beautiful parks. All are invited to join in with the charity's first ever Time to Get Active London event, which will help raise money for a good cause, whilst allowing disabled and non-disabled people to have some fun on wheels or on two feet. Time to Get Active London will be held in the lovely surroundings of Southwark Park. You can choose between taking part in a 2.5k or a 5k route and can be on all types of wheels, such as in a wheelchair, rollerblades, with a pushchair or bicycle or even on a skateboard! You will also be more than welcome to walk your way or run around the course. On the day, why not bring a picnic for afterwards, plus there will be something for everyone with entertainment and an opportunity to find out about sports groups and clubs in your area. Jason Suckley, Director of Fundraising at Scope adds: "By taking part in our Time to Get Active London event, you will really be helping us to make a big difference to the lives of disabled people. It's a great opportunity to get together with your family and friends and do something you all enjoy. So why not set yourself an exciting new challenge this summer?" The event will take place on Sunday 14 June in Southwark Park from 11am to 3pm.
