CLIC Sargent Charity CD
A song has been written to raise funds for CLIC Sargent, the children's cancer and leukaemia charity. The song, Every Day (I Climb A Mountain), was written by Peter Farrell and Peter Charlton, who have been successful in a number of songwriting competitions, including winning 3rd Prize in the Lyrics Category in the 2007 International Songwriting Competition, and reaching the Final of the 2008 UK Songwriting Contest. The charity song itself reached the Final in the Pop Category in the November round of the 2007 Song Of The Year Contest. The song was written mainly in relation to coping with long-term illness, but the lyrics could apply to many different problems. Peter Farrell, who wrote the lyrics, and his sister, Arlene, have been disabled since birth as a result of a rare bone condition called Engelmann's Disease, and also have a number of other long-term health probelms. Peter said "I chose to give the song to CLIC Sargent for a number of reasons. I want to help a cancer charity because my father and other members of my family have been affected by the disease, and I want to help a children's charity because both myself and my sister know what it is like to have to deal with illness, doctors, and hospitals when you are a child, and I would like to help children who are having to deal with these experiences today". They are currently looking for a well-known band or singer to record the song, and are raising funds to meet the costs of making the CD.
