Motability car scheme's first ever open day a success
More than 1,300 disabled motorists and their families flocked to Old Trafford, Manchester last weekend for the first ever One Big Day open day, showcasing the Motability Car Scheme. Featuring exhibitions from over 12 local car dealerships, plus specialist suppliers of adaptations and Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles, there were over 50 cars to view from manufacturers, such as Ford, Renault, Chevrolet, Citroën, Peugeot, Nissan, Volkswagen, Vauxhall, Toyota, BMW, MINI and Mazda. All the cars on display, and those available to test drive are available on the Motability Car Scheme. There are over 30,000 people in the Greater Manchester area who have mobility impairments and could take advantage of the Motability Car Scheme. Mike Betts, chief executive of Motability Operations commented: "Motability Operations' first ever open day has been a terrific success as attendees enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about the Motability Car Scheme. Feedback from visitors was that they particularly valued the chance to come and discuss their mobility requirements in person, and see some of the cars available on the Scheme." For more information on individual dealer events in your area visit www.motability.co.uk/opendays or call 0800 953 7000. The Motability Car Scheme delivers affordable motoring solutions for disabled people and their families. Anyone who receives the Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance or the War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement can use this to pay for the lease of a brand new car. The payment includes comprehensive insurance, maintenance and RAC breakdown cover. No credit checks or further medical assessments are required and customers receive a new car every three years.
