Toys with adapted switches

Using joystick operated toys is a useful way of developing the skills needed for operating a powered wheelchair for a physically disabled child.

Toys with single or multiple function switches enable a child to develop the skills to operate scanning systems for word processors, environmental control systems, computerised educational systems and sophisticated electronic communication aids.

Switches can be used to encourage a child to learn new movements/utilise purposefully the residual movements they have to operate toys for fun/education e.g. hand/finger controls - squeeze grip, pinch grip, push buttons, mercury tilt switches - for head or arm movement.
