Environment Agency

Principal External Funding Officer
£27,000 - £38,800 + benefits
Exeter

This is the most important communications challenge on earth. Climate change, floods, waste, pollution - the environment is headline news. The work we do here has never had so much public attention.

But good coverage means little if it doesn't change anything. Here at the Environment Agency we don't just want people to say they care about the environment, we need them to do something about it.

If you are a communication professional who can drive real change, within the organisation as well as in the outside world, then you could be the the person we're looking for.

Job Purpose
Provide professional support on external funding to Environment Agency managers, staff and external stakeholders, and build strong partnerships to ensure the planning and promotion of external funding and to maintain a positive regional Environment Agency reputation for this work.

Principal Accountabilities
- Develop the regional external funding priorities, in consultation with internal and external stakeholders, and communicate with them, to ensure the integration of these priorities into appropriate Environment Agency plans and external policies, strategies and funding programmes.
- Resolve conflicts through the business planning cycle, to support funding priorities.
- Provide strategic technical and professional external funding expertise in support of internal and external stakeholders to enable the Regional Strategic Unit to deliver the right solutions for the Environment Agency in the region.
- Promote a better understanding amongst external stakeholders and Environment Agency staff of the Environment Agency and its vision, including through training, and influence their work to achieve more sustainable solutions for the region.
- Build strong partnerships and maintain a positive regional Environment Agency reputation for this work, and participate on relevant Regional and National Groups to represent the Environment Agency on these key issues.

For an informal talk about these opportunities call Corporate Affairs Manager Mark Rice on 01392 352 488.

Closing date: 6 May 2008
