Immigration Officers/Border Control Regional Operations
£20,445 + 16.5% Shift Disturbance Allowance (SDA) + £375 holiday pay (after training period).

Of course, it never is. Deciding just who is eligible to enter the country and who poses a potential threat takes skill.

Not least, because it involves minimising the inconvenience to the traveling public while making sure those who shouldn't gain entry, don't. Variety comes as standard in Border Control - a shift might be spent interviewing an asylum applicant or tracing the relatives of an unaccompanied child.

As an Immigration Officer within Border Control Regional Operations, you just don't know what will land on your desk each day. The focus of the role is on checking passengers' passports and visas and assessing their eligibility to enter the UK. Not that your responsibilities end there.

As an Immigration Officer, you are likely to be involved in case working, surveillance, forgery detection and evidence gathering and arranging for passengers to be removed from the UK. You may also be required to work elsewhere in Border Control Operations including our Juxtaposed Controls in Europe.

To help us fulfill this sizeable responsibility, you will need to be professional, articulate, determined and impartial, with strong interviewing and report-writing skills. You will also need to be a UK National and should normally have been resident here for five years prior to application.

We can offer a stimulating career which can follow a number of paths, including overseas opportunities after a few years.

In return, you will gain an excellent package of benefits, including a season ticket loan and a choice of pension schemes.

You will be required to wear a uniform when working for Border Control.
