![]() Nuclear Waste Assessor Penrith £40,500 - £46,000 + benefits The Environment Agency is the leading public body for protecting and improving the environment in England and Wales. It's our job to make sure that air, land and water are looked after by everyone in today's society, so that tomorrow's generations inherit a cleaner, healthier world. Join us, and the work you do will make a lasting difference. It's crucial that we safely manage and dispose of the waste from the past 50 years of nuclear operations. Our Nuclear Waste Assessment Team (NWAT) has achieved much in this area, and there's never been a more exciting - or important - time to join us. You'll assess and review proposals for the management and disposal of radioactive wastes, which means dealing with a wide range of technical issues. You'll have faced them before in your current role - maybe as a technical consultant or working for a nuclear operator. Your expertise in radioactive waste disposal or radioactive waste management will be crucial. That experience, in addition to a science or engineering degree - and possibly a higher degree - will complement your excellent communication skills, which you will need when you work with senior players.
