Veterinarians 1 post: large animals 1 post: poultry and/or pigs The Farm Animal Welfare Council (FAWC) is an independent advisory body established by the Government in 1979. Responsible for reviewing the welfare of farm animals, the Council also advises the Government of any legislative changes that may be necessary. FAWC needs to appoint two new members for approximately 20 days a year. You will bring your expertise to the Council and help to inform its decisions. Further information about FAWC can be found at: www.fawc.org.uk Veterinarian (large animal): With extensive and sound working knowledge of mainstream livestock veterinary practice and science, you will have particular expertise with cattle and/or sheep. You will have suitable academic qualifications and significant current working experience with farm animals and an active interest in animal welfare, especially relating to farm animals. Veterinarian (poultry and/or pigs): With extensive and sound working knowledge of mainstream livestock veterinary and science you will have particular expertise with poultry and/or pigs. You will have suitable academic qualifications and significant current working experience with farm animals and an active interest in animal welfare, especially relating to farm animals. Remuneration: You will receive £144 per meeting along with re-imbursement of travel and other expenses.
