Lead the drive for justice, equality and fairness Salaries £55,000 - £80,000 Based London or Manchester The Commission for Equality and Human Rights (CEHR) is a new national organisation dedicated to creating a more equal Britain, confident with all aspects of its diversity, built on fairness and respect for all. It will have a range of powers and substantial resources to combat discrimination and to promote human rights. We are recruiting to thirteen Director posts in Manchester and London. All require strong leadership qualities, strategic vision, professional expertise and commitment to the CEHR's goals. This is your chance to help build a society based on fairness and respect. Director of Policy The Director of Policy will lead a wide-ranging, dynamic policy function drawing on a team of around 70 project managers and external experts. We want you to take a fresh look at policy challenges, analyse from first principles a rationale for intervention and develop robust policy options. Director for the Disability Programme You will lead and direct a portfolio of strategic policy projects relating to disability, ensuring work is fully integrated into the CEHR and helping to deliver the CEHR's mandate and cross-strand approach to equalities and human rights. Director of Research Your challenge is to build the equality and human rights evidence base which is essential to every aspect of the CEHR's work. You will also lead policy projects with a significant research content. Director of Foresight You will be the internal authority on the shape of the equality and human rights landscape in Britain, anticipating future trends and identifying key strategic objectives. You will distill this analysis into the CEHR's triennial State of the Nation report, setting targets to bring Britain closer to fairness and equality. Director of Business Planning You will develop the overall plan of strategic policy projects, identifying programmes, resources, outcomes and timings. You will also own and operate the CEHR's new public benefit test, a crucial tool in prioritising its activity. Director of the Commissioners' Office You will fill a strategic role linking the offices of the Chair and Chief Executive to the rest of the organisation, building political contacts and advising the Board and Commissioners. Director of Legal Policy You will lead the development of the CEHR's legal strategy. This will involve monitoring and influencing the development of law relating to equality and human rights and working closely with external stakeholders, including European and international, to build strategic relationships. Legal Director: Enforcement You will guide the CEHR on its statutory powers and duties and lead on all enforcement action, ensuring that it meets the CEHR?s strategic objectives. We are looking for an experienced lawyer with a current practising certificate issued by the Law Society or Bar Council. Director of Corporate Law and Governance You will provide legal advice to the Board and senior management team and deal with complaints and related litigation. We need a corporate lawyer with experience of advising senior executives and a current practising certificate. Director of Information Management Central to the new organisation will be its knowledge base. We are looking for an information management professional to oversee internal knowledge management and manage the external provision of advice and information, developing content for our Helpline and website. Director of External Affairs You will have a unique opportunity to build and develop the external face of the CEHR, leading a large team responsible for media, public relations, campaigns, publications and events. Director of Stakeholder Management You will help build and develop the external face of the CEHR as an accessible, ambitious organisation. Key tasks will include co-ordinating stakeholder relationships across the CEHR whilst co-ordinating a process that categorises relationships and puts the right people in place to manage them. You will also establish relationship management objectives and goals. Director for English Regions You will lead a team of 50 in nine locations, managing regional equality and human rights issues and stakeholder relationships, whilst contributing regional insights into the development of policy.
