I realise that for whatever reason Motability only wish to show car sub £2000 AP, however even with this restriction the website is not listing all available car sub £2k. A poster reported to have spoken to Motability who now say their website is correct and I notice about the error messages listing "incorrect forms" have gone, surely some thing must still be up as loads of cars are missing. Below I've listed a random comparison from Manufactures list offering and what appears on the Motability website.

BMW X1 (16 models available under £2k only 1 appears on Motability)

A small sample of missing, not listed all

741678 SE Manual Diesel sDrive 18d SE 5d 2WD £1,499
741661 ED Manual Diesel sDrive 20d EfficDynam 5d 2WD £1,549
741676 SE Manual Diesel xDrive 18d SE 5d 4WD £1,549
741674 Sport Manual Diesel sDrive 18d Sport 5d 2WD £1,549

BMW 3 Series (5 models available under £2k only 3 appears on Motability)

Missing

743509 316d SE Manual Diesel 316d SE Sal 4d £1,999
743507 318d SE Manual Diesel 318d SE Sal 4d £1,999

VW CC (5 models available under £2k only 3 appears on Motability)

Missing

GT TSI 2.0 6spd	£1999.00
GT TDI BMT 2.0 6spd	£1799.00
GT TDI BMT 2.0 6spd	£1899.00

Other weird results,VW Passat should show 4 models under £2k but Motability list 7!

Should we we looking at the manufactures list or Motability? Have Motability effectively introduced a new list before the 31st June renewal without telling anyone... Bit of a mess I think!!!!

Just spoken to my local VW dealer and he has gone someway to explain why the sudden change on the search of cars or rather the lack of cars, basically if they have a manual model under £1999 advance payment you can order the equivelant in a Automatic even if its over £1999 but it wont show that option on motability website. The dealer has assured me this is correct as i've just placed an order for a VW sharan auto se, with advance payment of £2999.

I have a wheelchair accessible vehicle (Renault Kangoo) and am now in my sixth year (Motability gave me a 1 year extension).

I was wondering the other day of the total cost of this vehicle over 6 years. Anyway the sad person that I am, I calculated it and came to the figure of 27000! This is made up of 6 years mobility component + advanced payment + conversions/adaptions –access to work contribution.

Does this surprise people? Obviously I’m thinking quite a walk about it, since I have to decide what to do when the sixth year ends next April.

Thanks

Hi and thank you for this forum that gives advice to disabled people etc. My question is below.

I was due to change my car in September and was allowed to order a new car on July 2nd, I test drove the Tiguan and Q3 and both suited my needs perfectly. I checked the site and the Auto Q3 which is what I can drive is know longer available. I called motability and they claim from 1st july the Auto Q3 SE or Tiguan Auto SE will NOT be on the scheme.

I'm only disappointed as I tested them both and found them comfortable, easy to access for me and my wheelchair etc

Can anyone give any insight into the ford kugu or any sort of car with the same height and boot space as these cars. Also does anyone know why the cars have been removed, motability say it is NOT a fault on the site but cars need to be under £2k and those that did order when those cars where available will still have the orders completed, So lucky for some.

Ps not bothered with alloys, tints or latest tech just something that suits my needs and would make my life easier. Can't do hard seats or firm rides either.

Any help will do.

Thanks in advance

After a lot of visiting different showrooms it looks like the car we will be getting is the Hyundai ix20. It is comfortable for my other half to sit in and also small enough for my daughter/carer to be able to drive. She is only 17 and still having lessons.

My question is this: Can my daughter drive the car with L plates as long as I am sat in the passenger seat just as you can with a non-motability car?

I realise she has to take the advanced driving test after she passes her normal test, but I want her to be able to drive with L plates to be able to get used to the car.

I've just bought myself a little car and hope to start driving again. How do I go about getting car tax exemption? I have rung DLA and they are going to send me a form out, it takes 7-10 days to arrive.
I paid 12 months tax upfront when I bought the car. I am hoping to reclaim most of this.
I usually do things online, but is it correct that using the certificate for the first time I have to do it in the post office?
How do I tax the car if the car already has tax on it?
Do I reclaim a refund first or after taxing in the post office?
I am waiting for the V5 to arrive as the dealer put the car straight into my name as a 2nd owner. I was told the V5 takes about 4 weeks to arrive.
I much prefer to do things online.

Hi all, I live in tameside where we have had pip for a few mths now even though not heard of any one going on it yet.

My car won't be due till 2015 and was on indef award but that's gone out the window, so me and my wife was sat down the other night talking about it and have decided that this car we have now may be our last on the scheme as with all this uncertainty we would be better to buy our own that way we would still be able to get about.

At the moment I use a power chair but use a hoist to get it in the back of my berlingo but as I have phyiso every week at local hospital, and have it every day just to help me get about.

Yes I know I will have to get insurance and other things that I have not had for over 18 yrs but since this government is he'll bent on saving money and those who loose out have to suffer until they can sort it out and I don't want to be stuck in so I am now putting money away for a small second hand car and its going to be arouNd upto 10 yrs old .
Our Son, William, has been horse riding...

This is not a motability post, but i cant see where i should post this - perhaps someone could help us.

Our Son, William, has been horse riding with a local school every Friday since February 2013. William is disabled – he is autistic and is currently suffering with mobility problems, which are psychological rather than physical. We have been delighted with the approach of the staff, who have helped him get on and off the horse and shown a great level of understanding for his disability. It is hard to put into words how the success of the riding has been for him, but we can say he gets a huge amount of satisfaction and enjoyment from each session. It is of particular importance because his disabilities exclude him from many things in life.

Last Friday week he was being helped on to the horse when the lady who owns the school appeared. We had never met her before, it was the first time she was on site while William was riding. Her initial reaction was of anger due to the amount of time taken up by her staff to help William get on the horse - indeed one of the staff is her daughter.
She then said that she would have to charge more because of the time taken – we guess she was only concerned about how much money a disabled person on a horse might cost her. The next thing she said was William was “hurting the horse” due to his sitting position. She shouted at her staff to move him forward. Now distressed he got off and we left, the owner saying she would ring us over the weekend. At no time since Feb has anyone said his sitting postion was wrong. She telephoned to say William would no longer be welcome to attend her riding school. We find this quite reprehensible, both the behaviour demonstrated on the day she met William and the decision to exclude him for being disabled. The website says the school caters for ALL riders. This is not the case. Perhaps they should amend this to exclude disabled people.

So what can we do? Any advice would be very welcome, even if it is direct us to where we should be looking for such advice.

Thank you for reading this

Hi all

Am here to ask a question on behalf of my sister.

She looks after my elderly Mum & stepdad. We have just applied successfully for DLA for Mum as she is now housebound. None of them claim Carers Allowance despite my telling them that either my sister or my Mum's elderly partner would certainly be eligible.

My sister has a car on finance. I have talked to her today about the possibility of getting a car through the Motability Scheme so that she can take Mum out in her wheelchair (she has a wheelchair but hasn't actually left her flat since she came and spent Christmas with us - we live 180 miles apart). If my Sis did this, does anyone know what would she do about her current car ? Also, should anything happen to our Mum (heaven forbid) then would my sister be able to purchase the Motability car for herself ?

I'm sorry to have so many questions but can anyone help at all or suggest some next steps that I can pass on to her ?

Thank you
