how do i go about getting a mobility car?

Hi all, just wondering how you go about getting a mobility car?.I have 2 years left on my D.L.A.(h.r.m) until its up for review and i need to get an automatic, needs to be high (this is due to very bad back condition i have)and needs to fit wheelchair in boot so not asking for much lol! I know that you can go on mobility website but i have read on here that you can go to dealerships and ask for mobility cars.Sorry if this is daft but i know so little about getting a mobility car any help much appreciated, take care all.

I you prefer to chat to someone, then i'd advise on nipping into a local dealer and asking for their Motability Specialist.

Ask them the questions, and don't rush anything. Take a bit of time to shop around, and don't be talked into anything without first test driving.
    Motability Car History
05/2009-05/2012; Nissan Qashqai 1.5 Diesel Tekna; 36,500 miles; avg 41.1mpg
    06/2012-Present; Ford C-Max 2.0 Diesel Titanium Powershift; 12,900 miles; avg 37.6mpg

One of our hosppitals, St Mary's, has The William Merritt Disabled Living Centre and Mobility Service. Here you can try out various things for disabled people, including scooters, wheelchairs & cars. They offer a full assessment service for this, & other adaptations. Maybe you have such a service locally & can try it out, to see what you need, what sort of car, how it may need adapting, etc. They can also recommend local dealers.

Hi all well i have had fun today about time lol!,went trying cars out and have narrowed it down to the ford c-max (automatic) and the nissan qashqai so i am going to test drive next week and see which one i like they are both very comfy and easy to get in and out off but i must say the nissan is pulling me towards that as its £500 cheaper and i dont have to pull seat forward to drive this had to be done when i tried the ford.So now i am wondering i have got a form about getting help towards the A.P but as the nissan comes under a medium car will they not just try and get me a cheaper car? i know this might sound daft but money is tight as we all know and i have to have an automatic and i am quite tall and the seat has to be waist high so its easier to get in/out how can i put on the form that the nissan is the better suited one for.I am so sorry if i have dribbled on but i need to make sure that i am doing everything right do not want to end up with a car that i am not totally happy with, thanks x

I've got the Qashqai-plus2 deisel and it's so comfortable, seats are lovely and high, and ample boot space for a wheelchair and shopping. It has too many gadgets to name but is so spacious and ticks all my boxes.

Well, you need a car you are happy with Sambo, & one you can afford, so ask. You are not dribbling yet, but do not on your PC as it will blow up
