Vauxhall still has the insignia sri nav auto and astra elite with a reasonable deposit. The BMW 1 M sport has been reduced by a couple of hundred pounds. I'm due to replace my mob car in April and can't decide between those above or the Merc B class. I'm looking at something with a sub £1500 deposit, although if I could stretch to the maximum deposit I'd consider the Volvo S60 or BMW 3 series.
Dont know if you have noticed but the cars for the WPMS has come down from 1977 to 1767 and many manufacturers are only offering them exactly the same as the DLA.
Bargains, well at 1st look Volvo V60 D3 ES Auto £1999 (manual is £1999 also) is good value albeit you need to spend on parking sensors and other extras. BMW seem to have priced competitvely this quarter with up to £1000 off the prices last quarter and the X1 is included too (will be interested if the new 3 series will come in at some point).
I think overall my initial reaction to the cars and their prices is Unremarkable, a couple of surprises. There is a moderately better choice than last quarter. Interesting how many cars (appx 200 ) are bang on or just under the £2k limit.
I have got an initial short list of 3 cars which I will test drive in due course. What about anyone else.
If you want an s60 auto you will need to contact Volvo to see wht the price is. Bearing in mind the manual and auto versions of the V60 are both £1999 would hope the S60would be the same. I have looked at the B class, 1 series and Astra amongst others and I always look at the fuel economy. I would expect to get close to 60 from the BMW and Mercedes but only 40 from the Vauxhall which equates to an extra £1600 on fuel over 3 years. Something I will take into account when looking at AP's and the cost of extras.
Just had a quick browse, and only managed to fill in 10 of the 39 cars in my spreadsheet - will do more tomorrow (that's the problem with viewing from a mobile instead of a laptop)
Anyway, have a look at the Mini Countryman listings, they seem to have placed 6 Cooper D Autos at £1999 (the difference is spec), with the standout model, the Cooper D Chilli 4WD also mixed in at £1999 AP!
Will check out some more later.
Also in the Mini Countryman range, I found the Cooper SD Chilli 4WD Auto at £1699
I have had a long look through all the auto cars and have shortlisted 3, but 2 will depend upon auto versions at £2k+ being made available as indicated. So a call to motability in the next few days to clarify and then an initial look at 2 as the third's not on sale until till March, and most importantly check out how comfy the seats are and how easy it is to get in and out. Then a final check of the cars to see what else has come on the scheme and test drives.
I think motability have achieved one of their aims as all the large jeeps and 4x4's have all gone but for those looking to spend no more than £2k there is a better and wider choice than last quarter.
If anyone has spotted any real gems let me know. BMW 1 series. Mercedes B class Volvo V60 and the VW Golf are all looking competitive.
Hopefully I'll be able to keep my Honda CRV another 2 years, just wating to see what they say after it goes for MOT on Wednesday. I was almost heppy when I saw the number of 4x4s had increased until I saw it was only the BMW X1 or Chevrolet Captova that are available in diesel, both are a lot smaller inside than my CRV and at £1999 AP there's no way I can afford one anyway
If I have to have a new car it will have to be the Renault Grand Scenic as I can just fit in, it's gone up to £595 AP, the more economical 1.6 version would be nice but it's £1495 Ap![]()
BMW X1 sDrive 20d SE £1999
