If you really wanted to go with a particular insurer and they won't take Motability NCB then just pull the 'discrimination' card. As in effect that is exactly what they are doing (especially as some companies will accept it).

obviously i didnt mean i deserve 24 years no claims, i just said i've been driving for 24 years and just stated that i've been a motability customer for 15 years and never made a claim, yet i only got 5 years no claims, just seems a little unfair the car is a 3 year old nissan note , but i guess its an auto and i have adaptions so maybe that upped it. More than who are RSA customer arm said to me they have loads of queries re motability customers coming to end of lease.

I'm sorry didn't mean to offend, just trying to lighten the mood.

As someone has said most companies only count the first 5 years NCB so don't be too disheartened. You may find that next year you'll have a greater choice, so it maybe worth this initial outlay.

Although I do think you are being conned as you are paying far too much. My wife has 6 years NCB and pays £335 on a 150bhp boy racer's car. Even when she didn't have any NCB she was only paying £650!

Your postcode makes a massive difference. A friend moved from London to Lincolnshire and saw the premium drop from over £900 to just £400.

no offence was taken i got a letter from the insurance company yesterday, saying this misread the info from RSA and RSA are actually giving me 10 years not 5 years, so i got a nice little refund from more than, still a little bit over the odds compared to what churchilll quoted then said they wouldfnt honour letter, but i live in a town so that may up it, as you said i'll be in a more bargining position next year.

    thanks everyione for your input.

Whilst doing some research (Disability Champion work) I came across a Disabled Friendly Car Insurance site, it was advertised on http://www.disabledmotoring.org/

Maybe of interest to some of you? http://www.fishinsurance.co.uk/disab...ce.php?dmuk_b1

Well I'm impressed with this insurance company - very proactive and friendly efficient and helpful service.

I made enquiries about car insurance. They don't mind if you've been on the Motability block insurance.

I'm just making enquiries and it seems they may offer up to 9 years no claims, cover your no claims bonus, offer up to £50 a day if your car is off the road. I think they go off the last three years driving.

Well done Paul for sourcing the link.

    Fish car insurance

Well having had a Motability lease hire vehicles for two decades I wasn't sure what to expect when getting a car insurance quote.

Initially I filled in a form on line with as much information as possible. An hour later a very pleasant woman phoned me to ask if I had any road convictions over the last three years which I haven't.

She then wanted to know if I'd made any claims over the last nine years. I had about 5 years ago and the cost was about £400.

I decided to cover my access for £15 and take out cover for potential loss of keys. My no claims would be covered and it included AA home start assistance as part of the deal. The quoted cost was £486 which I thought very reasonable and I've not even compared the price elsewhere. Obviously the quote holds for 30 days and I am not looking to buy my car until November but I did feel like a valued customer so I shall be back in touch later this year.
