DWP minimum set level for cost of living

Years ago DSS letters used to state the minimum figure the Government said you needed to live on and then all benefits were calculated from that figure.
Does the DWP still have such a figure? I never see it on correspondence anymore, yet I'm assuming there must be one.
I'm asking because as I read it those who transfer from IB and IS to ESA will get a transitional payment to ease them into the eventual (13 weeks I believe) reduction in benefit, therefore this indicates that the minimum level to live has/will be reduced, or have I got that wrong.

The amount paid by way of ESA is less than that which was paid under income support for someone sick or disabled.

ESA does not have any disability premiums anymore other than the Severe Disability Premium and Enhanced Disabilitry Premium. Income Support still has disability premiums that can be claimed.

They still state in the calculation for income support the 'minimum figure the Government said you needed to live on'. In my case it's £101 pw that is for me, my wife & 3 kids under 16.
I don't think it can get much lower!!!

Have you counted CB and tax credits in that £101 as they would say you need £101 plus CB plus tax credits add that up

If you look on the DWP site it gives you all the info.
Enhanced premium is mainly for those on DLA HR care.
Depending on what other benefits you get and your personal situation the severe disability payment is worked out automatically in your claim if you are eligible.

In the past benefits for children used to be paid by IS now it is paid through CTC.
The difference is that with IS it was one form to claim for all, with CTC you have to make a seperate claim which the DWP do not tell you.

Yes Child tax Credit and Child Benefit are taken into account. The total amount of all the benefits (but not my DLA) mean we are exactly! £1 below the cut-off for Income Support which then triggers help with school meals and council tax (thank god) we don't have any housing benefits as we have our own place.
