As DLA is not means tested what difference does a lottery win make?
Yes
My thoughts exactly
However as my IB and when i move on to it ESA will not be means tested i would also continue to claim that as well .However if i had won the lottery i would wait until my review date and when the form came through the letter box would send it back telling them to stick thier forms & medicals where the sun don't shine. Even go down to the office and tell them i would get a great feeling of gratification out of thatPehaps go to Westminster and tell Camo the exact same thing to his face

No i wouldnt because i wouldnt need it ..still dont understand why they have the car why not buy their own ..oh well i wont ever win the lotto anyhow
Once again the journalist has the facts wrong.
He says 'Mr O'Shea receives £500 a month' . . . .'Mr O'Shea, 73, ALSO receives a new car every three years under the Motability Scheme'.
It makes out that he gets money and a car. He doesn't explain that the mobility component of his DLA goes to pay for the lease hire.
It's sloppy sensationalism journalism that's designed to get peoples' backs up.
As ever the Media have no idea what they are talking about.
I think the fact the DLA is not means tested is good on one way, for obvious reasons. However, there has to be a cutoff point. No, I would not claim any benefits. I claim benefits now becuase I need them, I have no choice in the matter. I think it is disgusting that someone who has an income higher that DLA & any related benefits this may bring can claim. That could be the cutoff point. If you have more money or income that DLA, any other benefits related that are not means tested, etc, then you cannot claim.

The right wing press is full of stories about disabled ' scroungers' at the moment - the odious Rod Liddle, for instance, is obviously writing to spec. I would like to pose what might be seen as a tasteless question - did the multi-millionaire Camerons ever claim DLA for their disabled son?
I disagree Stephen.
A disabled person should be allowed to claim DLA even if they are working - well I claimed it because I was entitled to it It allowed me to be independent and I used the allowance to pay for a motability car.
I couldn't use public transport and unlike most of my former colleagues I couldn't walk into work or cycle there. In fact the organisation I worked for paid my car parking fees which would have cost me £30 a week! It costs more to commute to and from work.
The whole idea of the mobility component of DLA is to compensate you for the lack of accessible and affordable public transport. It allows you to have more freedom, independence - a life! Without this additional money my 'well-being' and moral would soon sink. Then I'd be ending up calling on the services of the NHS for mental impairment issues no doubt!
Cameron was asked this before, if he claimed DLA. I do not think he answered.
I am not saying those working should not claim. I am saying there should be a limit on peopl e who do not need it. It is suppose to be for those of us who need the money for our needs, not those who are wealthy. You have a right to it LT. I am saying those who have a very good income should not get it.
