Sea Queen
Hello folks,
Sorry...I had bad manners and just jumped in after I found this site and opened a thread about a carry on I had with Thomson holidays without introducing myself first.
My name is Billy but most of my friends just call me Wull, I was born with both my feet back to front, not club feet, just the wrong way around. I don't know much about it, when you are born with something you just get on with it and don't give it much thought.
I spent a lot of my younger years in hospital having operations to turn the feet around and they didn't give me much bother until I was about 18. By then I had went to sea like the rest of my family.
I was told by the specialists to give up the sea but that is easier said than done so I sat my skipper tickets and a few years later bought my own boat. That meant that I could sit in the wheelhouse and take the weight off the feet more often. I did this for another 25 years or so then sold up. By then I was almost off the legs altogether and Government regulations had made it not worthy of my efforts to stay in the fishing business. I still work part time doing Fishery Liaison stuff for oil companies.
I love to cycle, its one of the few things I can do without too much hassle. Getting out in the countryside under my own steam never fails to set me up for a good day. I recently bought a Brompton bike as I know I am getting near wheelchair time and this is fantastic. I can take it almost anywhere and it gives me a lot more mobility. It folds down to the size of a briefcase and perfect for taking on trains, a bus, the car, whatever. A brilliant invention and something I think more people should consider before jumping onto a mobility scooter or whatever.
Anyway, thats enough about me, Its nice to come across this site with all your helpful advice, I wish I knew about it years ago.
Hi bill hi everyone how are you all?
