I have watched this forum for a long time but I think this is my first post. I have read the article in the Guardian and I really don't know how the powers that be are going to be able to give a definite life expectancy time for anyone with a terminal cancer. It is all guess-work trying to decide how long a person will last with a terminal disease as treatment may or not work or may not be tolerated.
A dear friend was told that he had between 6 and 15 months to live when he was diagnosed with lung and liver cancer. He died within 6 months after undergoing chemotherapy which completely wiped him out. He could hardly get through the day in the comfort of his home with his loved ones to support him. There would be no chance of him working and he was a strong man.
The people making the laws, rules and decisions can have no idea at all of the horror of chemotherapy and the psychological effects both the treatment and having a terminal illness involves.
Had my friend still been alive, he would have been in the group expected to do some voluntary work or other unpaid work while undergoing what was to be the final 6 months of his life. I despair at what is being allowed to happen under this present government.

If they try this there will be challenges to it, in the courts. Yes, where possible I am not opposed to certain people doing certain work that is not classed as voluntary. I am opposed to forced voluntary work for people under their rules. Not that it can be called voluntary. I am also fully opposed to anyone doing any work that would otherwise be paid. That it nothing more than slavery. Of course proper work experience is a good thing, but we all know this sort of plan will not lead to any work, those who take on such people just keep taking on more, make more money, have less paid staff, & give the really appalling jobs to such people.

See what happens when you get rid of the unions, if this were to happen a few years back they would have call for a general strike, now we have no one on our sides now, again this is thankful the the government past and present.

If we do not do something then something will be done to us. I do not agree with rioting at all. I agree with direct action though. Maybe we all need to set ourselves alight in the town squares.

Not sure about setting ourselves alight, we would be doing the governments work for them.. I agree about the unions, losing them was the worst thing that could happen, too many people were bothered as to how the strikes would inconvenience them rather than the fact they were there for our benefit..People are far to selfish these days, proves that when you see the attacks on disabled people because of manipulated press.
