ESA Support Group Assessment – HELP!

Hi last year I was assessed and placed in the support group of ESA (after a long stressful struggle). However I have been sent the form out again and when I called they said I need to do this every 6 months. The form has changed since last time and I’m really worried I’ll be downgraded (even though my health is worse now, not better). I am housebound and completely unable to travel.

What I would like to know from anyone who can help is:

    • When u redo the form again do they always then require you to go through the physical assessment again as well?
    • Can anyone give me information on how the assessment criteria has changed from Feb last year?
    • Has the criteria for being in the support group changed?
    • Should I send a GP letter with the form to support me?

I’m really terrified by all this, it was stressful and hard enough to go through all this the first time round. I don’t think I could cope with having to do it every 6 months. I’m so worried.

Thanks for any help you can give xx

I know it is scary, so get some help. The CAB or another local agency would help with it. At the end of the day all you can do is your best, tell all the truth, everything, provide as much evidence as possible. If we do that then we know we have the best chance we can. We also know we can appeal.

    send with your ESA50 form:
    A GP letter
    a letter from your consultant
And any other nurse or specialists you are seeing.
a copy of your repeat prescription for drugs.
a copy of any appointment cards.
a copy of letters for any up and coming tests (even for blood)
Letters from these people can cost up to £10, but you do need them. ATOS see us as customers not disabled. So the more proof you have the better.
Also put on the top of every added paper work you send, your NI number, your full name. and at the bottom Page 1of6,2of6.
THIS IS IMPORTANT because lost paper work is just binned.

Now put a piece of sellotape on the top of page two of ESA(to strengthen the paper) and staple the copies to this.
All mail sent to ATOS is opened by the post office and not Atos, and lots of paper work is lost in this processes. Or postman Pat is taking down the pub for a good laugh

PLEASE go to DIAL they know more about this than CAB.

    Hope this helps
    Phil.

    Good Luck

I have jumped through the Atos hoops a few times. and now have a good idea how the system works. Remember if it has your NI on the top of any letter, its your property and you have the right to check its right and any mistakes are corrected. This applies to the forms sent to all your health care pro's. doctors and consultants get the ESA113 form to fill in about you so when appealing get this form as well by request also ESA85 and ESA85a.
As a professional Troll, all this can be found on the net if you know where to look
