    Here we go again

MORE than two-thirds of Hampshire’s incapacity benefit claimants are being judged capable of work, it has been revealed.
When are they going to stop persecuting us it is not our fault that we are disabled, I was a fit hard working Blacksmith until I had an accident.

Maybe they should appeal, & claim DLA. Of course that does not show they cannot work, but.....

i have poor mental health and maybe i could work with the right support but they said about care in commmunity if sheltered workshop like REMPLOY are closing and were in profit-who going to support me at work? managers are not carers -thus employers wont employ a support worker for me(but in some states in USA its law)maybe family run work place do care for staff but in the global age thats is rare now

Hi deboy, you don't need to work in segregated workplace as that is degrading and doesn't integrate you into the mainstream workplace.
Who will support you. Well there are organisations of disabled people that are run by disabled people that could help like Breakthrough UK if you lived in the North West. http://www.breakthrough-uk.co.uk/OurWork

The number one support for disabled people going for interview or in work is the government's 'Access to Work' scheme. They can supply a support worker while you're at work. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Disabled...mes/DG_4000347

i read this story along with the dozens more on the internet on sunday and the number of harsh comments made by the general public does concern me especially when these articles are inciting hatred towards us disabled people.

quite a while ago when the bbc ran a similar news article which was generating harsh and cruel comments i contacted them about concerns and they simply failed to respond i have since emailed the paper shown above and guess what they too have also failed to respond.

it is one thing to run these articles highlighting things but when it does incite hatred then it becomes a different ball game. i did read that hate crimes against the disabled is on the increase and some are even afraid to go out due to this hatred.

what people will have to do when these stories are run is to jump on their web sites and go in defence of disabled.

i would love to know if anyone else has contacted these media companies and if they have had any responses.

people out there simply don't realize that one day they could end up in the same situation as the rest of us disabled,

    Hi Mike
the government and the media have a lot to answer for as it is them who have bought the “hate the disabled” as we are all scroungers just to satisfy there attempt to kick us all on the the cheaper JSA yes we all know a few have swung the lead a bit to sit on there arse all day and do nothing, but they are just a few, but the innocent are having to pay the price.
I should not have to prove that I'm disabled all the time, if you have an incurable illness/disability that should go on record one medical and that's the last you hear of them again, but no we are dragged in to see them nearly every two years and it is very worrying for sum and it is something we don't need.
I have written comments to some papers, but it has fallen on deaf ears so I don't bother any more, but I suppose we should, but the reaction could be “they can complain, but can't work”.

I gave up making complaints of that nature about the media because there is always an excuse.

For my sins I am actually acquainted with a well placed journalist who works for the Daily Hate. It's a sad fact but these people really believe that the majority of all claimants are 'dole scum' and that the Government could easily halve the benefit bill if it wanted.
He also believes that if they stoke the fire up enough the public perception will turn against the whole austerity policy but in the meantime keeping the benefit scroungers and illegal immigrants in the forefront steers opinion away from the scandal of the bankers and corrupt politicians

That is the problem, society as a whole thinks anyone on any benefit is lazy or a cheater, & certain media people know this & use it. It sells papers. The sad fact is that the public are sheep. They rise to the challenge of the media.

Anyone can halve the welfare bill, they are doing it now, by moving the goalposts on us. They are redefining wwhat is disabled & what is not, what we can & cannot manage to do, etc. These are suppose to be medical issues, physical abilities or the lack thereof which can be proven. I could say a blind person is not blind if they have a guide dog. There, it is now law!

I have to say I have some sympathy with those who thing the benefit system is being abused.
Too many around here (and I live in a small town of 5,000 people) play the system for what its worth, such as one guy with his rent paid, his wife his "carer" as he is too ill to work, yet he can spend hours on the computer, run local discos, play darts and have enough money free to get a 50" 3D TV, unlimited Broadband, Wii's and PS3s for his ever increasing children.

He's not alone and yes, it does mean that all are tarred with the same brush, same as those who cheat the Blue Badge system. of course people get angry when they see these abuses and can just about scrape enough for a couple of pints out of their wage whilst these scroungers spend hours pissing it up the wall and brag about their new this & that and holidays.
See a couple of these and yes, peoples ideas do cet coloured, same as under tha last government, the councils had to keep housing stock free for asylum seekers whilst locals could not get on the ladder.

things like this make the general population "uncaring" as they dont see why this shpuld carry on.

What should have been done, is greater investigations and not just ignoring, make backache NOT a benefit ability claim unless it could be proved etc etc, instead they ahve thrown the baby out with the bathwater
