    PIP second mandatory reconsideration.

Finally after a six month fight my disabled daughter has her PIP award. We went through the usual frustrating route of an assessment by a Capita assessor with no mental health training and a report that totally dismissed all the medical evidence and reports from specialist mental health professionals. We then managed to get our local MP involved who questioned the DWP minister about the missing evidence from the assessment report. In the mean time we put the mandatory reconsideration in to the DWP with the usual result of an almost word for word refusal of pip. We then prepared an appeal pack and posted it off to the courts. Two days after posting the appeal the DWP wrote to us saying that they had considered the additional evidence we sent in (which we hadn't sent anything else to them) and had awarded us high care and low mobility which is a fair assessment of our daughters needs. Funny thing is it says Mandatory Reconsideration on the letter and you only get one but we have two. It's been a long hard fight to get our daughters PIP but we won in the end so try to stay positive folks and keep fighting the unjust system. Many thanks to all the kind people who gave us support and advice on this site we couldn't have won without you all.
