    Advice needed

As I have said in a previous post, I have an assessment on Friday 8th August.

Can anyone give me some advice on what to say/not say?

    Things to do/not do?

I am very worried about it, I have already convinced myself that I'm going to fail. I have mental health issues, clinical depression and anxiety.

I know you have to take your medication with you, but should I take anything else?

If you have problems with putting your feelings/issues into words, can you write it down and take it with you, and maybe show it to the assessor?

Do they have separate assessments for clients with mental health claims?

What do they usually ask you during the assessment?

only a prescription list is required not your medications. also if you have any documents then you can take them with you.

they may carry out a risk assessment and if they feel that you may spiral then they may halt it and report to your own doctors, that is what happened with me.

if you are concerned about the assessment been untoward then perhaps request it is recorded by contacting maximus or chda.

    thanks for the reply.

I'm just concerned that if I do request my assessment is recorded and something happens then they'll just edit it to their satisfaction and deny everything and it'll be their word against mine.

I'm worried because I know I'll become another victim of the benefits system. I don't handle stress very well; if something bad happens I tend to just shut down.

everything I've read on here and many, many other sites just confirms my fears.

everything is against you and you just can't win.

If you ask for it to be recorded, they will record two copies at the same time and will give one to you. That means they couldn't edit theirs as you have an original copy to compare with it.

how old are you? how long have you been on ESA? are you in support group? , if your over 40 and been on ESA for a long time they will have notes , dont bother asking for a recording (they will think your either to clever or have something to hide).when answering your questions dont give long winded replys , and be honest about thoughts of self harm or childhood issues (most mental health stems from yr childhood) MOST of the bad staff have been weeded out if your genuine and dont appear to happy you should get your award.

    I'm in the support group
I forget to say, this is a reassessment. the first time it was paper based
    I'm anything but happy
    and I'm not faking it.

if the first was paper based then have they spotted something in this esa50/doctors letter that dosnt match up?.
some times if there has been an addmision from a doctor of some improvement?.
also your age dosnt help because they would expect depression (on its own) to ease off in time..
if you had ME or some other underlying (long term thingy) then the depression may run alongside.
the other thing is they may have thought when agreeing there first paper (assessment) that you would of signed on JSA by now and there for want to have a look at you , but as i say depression is only the end result of something else and i expect thats what there trying to find out..

if anything I'm worse than before, in the interim between my first assessment and now ive made a suicide attempt and been hospitalised again because of intrusive thoughts
and my medication (antidepressants) have been increased in dosage, and ive been put onto a second medication
it wont be easing off any time soon, although I would expect that kind of thinking from them, that it would just disappear after a while
