Has anyone been on a sun (newspaper) holiday before?

as the title says, has anyone been on a sun holiday before?
we didnt have a holiday last year and my sis in law has sold her caravan so no more cheap hols for us so thought id try a sun holiday.
we heard they can be really good and who can moan at a holiday for 15 quid a person? you may still have additional charges to payi eg entertainment passes but still works out a hell of a lot cheaper than booking direct, especially as were a family of 5!
ive collected all the tokens out of the paper and sent them in with booking form and payment but havent heard anything yet..
im hoping we get a booking, we soooo need a change of scenery!!
has anyone else been on these holidays before and if so, what were youre experiences?
did you get the dates you wanted and the place?
how long from sending yor booking form in did you hear from them?
    thanks in advance x

Best I can suggest is to look up the reviews on them and see what you think, just remember is is only the view of the person/s posting though. Sorry can't help more. If you do go let us know what you think please

    yep, will do.
i hope we hear something soon as they have got 75 quid of my money lol. Well its a postal order actually but still my money!
They send the payment back if they cant book you a holiday (demand is huge)
Thats the problem with postal orders, you cant find out if they have been cashed or not(???) unlike a cheque.
If i knew my PO had been cashed, id know that ive got a holiday booked(or vice versa)
anyway, ive picked 5 holiday parks on the Norfolk coast and 5 different start dates in summer hols plus some "back up" parks in other areas like lincolnshire so
where and when were going ( if successful) remains a mystery but i think its exciting and i definately need a bit of excitement in my life.....

hi, yes been on quite a few of the holidays and off on another next monday off to cumbria, did one in march ty myar wales truely enjoyed it, got another booked in july for southport, another in oct for wales, These work out quite cheap, but the one in july wasnt with all the extras like supplement, pases, ect but still cheaper than the broucher, Just check the supplements in the paper first We got all our first choices and dates, my daughter did one and didnt hear so she phoned the sun and they had got the wrong email address and her holiday was booked for 2 weeks later so i suggest you ring the sun, Theses holidays are value for money, the rooms-caravans are clean, some of the sites are quiet because of season time but everything there kids clubs ect, hope you enjoy we do

    Hi 1940sfan,
Thanks for replying to my post. Ive been tempted to try a sun holiday in the past but thought they wouldnt be up to much until a relative said that hey go on them quite a lot and theyre really good.So i thought sod it, lets give it a try.
Weve fallen in love with Norfolk as we went there a couple of years ago so hope we get one of the parks we wanted in that area. If not, skeggy will do just fine and i also put down cumbria (never been there before)
Iknow it can take up til the 30th May to get some kind of booking confirmation (i asked for it by post as my post printers broken so cant print confirmation email off) but i should get an email telling me that they have processed my application shouldnt i?
Anyway , i hope i get a booking and if i have, icant wait to find out where were off to. Its the luck of the draw but beggars cant be chosers when you havent got a lot of money...

Well i took 1940sfans advice and rang the Sun as it had been a while since i sent the booking form and payment off etc and the suspense was killing me...
They answered the phone straight away which was great. I asked them if they had received my form etc and they had but unfortunately my choice of dates and parks had been booked up
The very nice fella on the end of the phone said they were sending me a list of other parks that were still available so i could book one of those instead if i wanted to. But, i thought id ask him to run me through some of the parks on that list while I was on the phone.
He mentioned a holiday park called Broadland Sands in Suffolk which id actually been looking at a few months ago before i even thought about a Sun holiday and it looked and sounded beautiful (great reviews) so he booked it there and then for me!
Within a few minutes, id received an email with my Sun booking ref and name of park and holiday date along with the parks phone number and ill get my confirmation direct from the park in approx 10 days...yippee!!
Its near enough to my first choice (Norfolk)so im very happy plus entertainment passes are free for all the family so on top of the 75 quid ive already paid, ill only have an additional 17 quid to pay for service charges. Plus im taking our own bed linen so wont have to hire any.
Its a long weekend break (FRI-MON) but im happy with that, its a change of scenery and for 92 quid inc service charges, who can complain...?

Sun holidays are not fun packed or 5 star, they are very basic you have to take your own sheets duvet and pillows, where I went there was chalets 2 bed but I think you can choose double or single, we had 2 doubles plus the sofa, there was a club room which had entertainment but all of the entertainment was from entertainment staff, no bring bands in for one or two nights to make it a little different and there was a very basic shop; which had a few food bits but the rest was stuff you might need on a holiday like cheap waterproof rain coats, buckets and spades for the beach, (to get to the beach you had to go by car) and postcards and sun glasses and stuff like that but the holiday was very basic, they did have an hour of fun for the kids with George the dragon but again a member of the entertainment staff was inside the dragon costume, but booking the holiday was all done pretty quick, we didn't have to wait long for the paperwork. some of the chalets were at ground level and some of them you had to go up steps to get to the front door of the chalet, so if you want ground floor access make sure you make it clear when you book the holiday; that you want disabled access. There was amusements in a separate room beside the clubroom and there was two club rooms but one they didn't use cos it was for adults only nights.

We went to Butlins Bognor Regis with the Sun holidays, half board we was in a chalet. We paid £50 and upgraded to the hotel, it was great. At the end of the day you get what you pay for, we paid more as we had half board option.
