The question wasn't aimed at you but in general, it's just the link was on your post.
Just to add that the CAB is totally free and needs the support of users to continue the great job it has done for so many years for so many people in need. God bless the CAB and it's many volunteers.Respect.

cab quality varies from branch to branch and in many places getting help can be difficult ...they too suffer from too many customers and not enough funding some also suffered from council grants being cut at time they need more funds and staff

Lol, I wish I could claim for that! I think yours would be too long on most sites, lol.

On the issue of B&W, it is an interesting point. These links have been allowed here for a long time. The site does have a free section, so maybe that is why it is allowed. Once reason I often recommend CAB or local agency to people.

I have no problem with B&W but it is clearly set up to make you have to subscribe for any real help. I'm not sure that being made to pay up front before any advice is fair. Personaly I would urge people to use CAB first as their service is face to face, ongoing and totally free.

the forums on B&W are free to read. they also supply examples for free of the downloads you get when you pay as does I think rightsnet

And many post the info here & on other sites for everyone. I can understand the concerns & confusion some have though. If I was a Mod here I am not sure what I would do about links to that site. I think I would allow it, but anyone posting would have to state the nature of the site, that some parts are free, but the majority is by subscription, each time they posted a link to it.

the problem with any site is they cost to run even where like on B&W the advice is given by mods who do it for free the downloads are whats the fee is for not the forums

seems to be the standard way other sites run by people with certain illness and disability seem to charge for downloads and forums are free .............. the problem with all forums even this one what ever you are told has to be checked out as it could well be wrong or in your own case does not count ......... few facts stand for every one given how complex regulations are

The question I suppose is a simple one, the answer is more complex. Is a website or agency justified in charging to offer advice to people such as those who are often desperate & in a financial pit?

This site is not as heavily used as it used to be and part of that is sites like B&W, where many of the experts that used to be here have gone.
Then it becomes a case of have's and have not's.
Most people come to a forum like this on a one off basis. I imagine it is the same on B&W and a yearly subscription is unecessary for most. Therefore it becomes a case of, we maybe able to give you advice but only if you pay up front first.
Let's be clear B&W is a business set up to make money for the owners of the site, call me old fashioned but isn't there something icky about making a profit off the back of those on benefits.
