Julie Fernandez, the disabled actress and lively campaigner, is this year’s guest ‘opener’ at the Mobility Roadshow 2012 that takes place at the Peterborough Arena, East of England Showground over three days – June 21st to 23rd. Julie will declare the event open at 10 am on Thursday 21st.
Julie is never afraid to speak out for improved design, ‘looks’ and technological investment in products that enable people with disabilities - as well as those who become less able with advancing years – to remain independently mobile for as long as possible.
“Anyone like me who needs help to be more mobile will find something at this event that can make a difference to their lives,” says Julie. “I do each year –from simple every-day gadgets to complex vehicle adaptations with amazing robotic technology.”
Other high-profile visitors include former Paralympian and presenter Ade Adepitan who will meet visitors on the Invacare stand on the afternoon of Thursday 21st and motorsport marshal Steve Tarrant who begins his quest to achieve a 24-hour mobility scooter record at 2pm on the same day. Steve famously survived a near-fatal crash at Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2000.
