What is the best way to keep rose plants safe during the winter?

I have rose plants in planters and I am wondering what is the best way to keep the safe during the winter. I live in OK where we are getting our first frost tonight so I brought them in. How do I ensure they live?

Your roses should be fine outside. I have all my roses out in planters and they survive through the winter. Prune them after flowering, depending on the rose. Prune to above a bud to the size you want really, two or three buds above root level works well. They really should be fine outside. You can add a mulch of rotted down leaves and comp[ost to protect the roots if you like and this helps to feed the rose too

    Hope this is helpful
