Can we pay a parent who could do care for us from are direct payment's

Just an enquiry concerning care. If a member of the family took on my care situation would I be able to pay them as my present carer through direct payments.

No, is the simple answer. It is to pay for services related to your care provided by your Council, Social Services or private agencies. However, it does say there are exceptional circumstances which may permit it. I am not sure what these would be.

Policy varies so ask your direct payment worker, ask for a copy of policy. Some say no, others will allow you to do this if the carer doesn't live with, others will allow it,but only in exceptional circumstances. If the latter applies to you, get advice first.
