    Question Re-newing motability car

Hi All, i am new here this is my 1st post,
I am currently in my 3rd and final year of my 1st ever motability car, and during the 3 years the car was stolen but recovered, and a separate claim where i scuffed the paintwork was made.
People have been telling me that RSAM insurance will refuse my 2nd car due on 13th jan 2013 due to making 2 claims on my 1st car which is really worrying me.
Can anyone give me any genuine advice on this please?
Thank you in advance for any help given
    Paul

    Hi Paul

I recommend ringing motability up and having a chat with them, i've just decided not to renew with motability and rang them several times over the past 3 months, they could not have been more helpful. By contacting them it will give you and answer which ever way and hopefully stop you worrying.

    I wouldn't worry about it.

I think the limit is 3 (fault) claims during the lease, and as theft isn't your fault I really wouldn't be too concerned.

Do call Motability though as mentioned above, they are nice and should put you at ease.

Paul is right, 3 claims is normally the limit, although you can appeal to Motability to continue being on the scheme.

Also in future don't bother with claiming on the insurance for light scuff marks or scratches - as long as they are minor, they are treated as fair wear and tear and will not affect your good condition bonus.

I scraped the rear-quarter of my old Qashqai against the concrete fence posts on my driveway, the marks went down to the undercoat but they were accepted as wear and tear.

I got my £250 bonus cheque yesterday.

I had a minor bump the other week. A scuff and small tear on the rear bumper which the dealer said is classed as fair wear and tear.
I trust you are happy with your new car.

    Yeah love it.

The left-foot accelerator takes a bit of getting used to but is brilliant to use mid-driving when your right leg cramps up.

I can't believe I waited this long to get an auto too.

I've done just over 1200 miles in the 2 1/2 weeks of ownership! And now it's run in, it's bloody fast!

You;ll be fine. RSA look at claims made over the last 5 years. Some time back I was refused a motability lease hire car as it was on my record that I'd made 5 claims. The thing was I now realise they would have been considered 'fair wear and tear' and I shouldn't have gone through the insurance to repair the scratches.

All I did was write to Motability and they were happy to reinstate me on the scheme.

My advice - if ever you get minor damage done to the paintwork find a 'one man band' retoucher who can repair the damage. Try not contacting RSA unless it's really needed that way you r insurance record will remain clean.
