    Carer and ESA

I am a carer for my wife who receives DLA hrc but have never claimed carers allowance as I am on esa (income based now)
I have never claimed as I believe i would not be entitled to any extra money as I am already on benefit. I have been told by a friend that says I should apply anyway regardless for pension credits.

The other thing is if I have to stop claiming ESA would I have to get a job right now even though I still need to care for my wife?

Does anyone have opinion ir knowledge as to if I should or should not claim it?

    Thanks
