Petrol vs Diesel Calculator

I have an Excel spreadsheet that calculates whether you should buy a Petrol or Diesel car depending on how many miles you do.

It works for both private purchases (just replace AP for Purchase Price) and Motability leases.

1. Current Petrol Price £/L
2. Current Diesel Price £/L
3. Petrol Car AP
4. Petrol Car mpg
5. Diesel Car AP
6. Diesel Car mpg
7. Your Milage over 3 years

Outputs:

1. Whether to get Petrol or Diesel Car
2. Savings over 3 years
3. Savings over 1 year

diesel is about 9p more expensive than petrol

I just filled my wife's car up (as that's my job) and her's is a petrol that gulps it down (25mpg).

Anyway I've just spotted that Petrol is currently at it's lowest price since 13th December 2011 at £1.289/L, Diesel is still quite high at £1.389/L which is a pity as I use 10 times as much fuel as her.
