Motability Cars - Change Tracker (Updated Regularly)

I've put your info into a spreadsheet that I used to work out which was the best car I should get (comparing 50+ cars), and the results are:

Key = Total cost inc AP and Fuel (Monthly Fuel Cost) + Calculated Costs of Current Car for comparison

Scenario 1 - 123 miles/week = 20000 / 3yrs
Leon = £2610 (£64)
GTC Petrol = £3766 (£98)
GTC Diesel = £3466 (£89)
i20 Petrol = £3594 (£89)

Scenario 2 - circa 160 miles/week = 25000 / 3yrs
Leon = £3187 (£80)
GTC Petrol = £4646 (£122)
GTC Diesel = £4270 (£112)
i20 Petrol = £4394 (£111)

Scenario 3 - circa 192 miles/week = 30000 / 3yrs
Leon = £3765 (£96)
GTC Petrol = £5525 (£147)
GTC Diesel = £5075 (£134)
i20 Petrol = £5191 (£133)

The Astra GTC only has 3 doors but has a 10% larger boot at 380L compared to 341L
Even though the Leon is slower from 0-60 (11.3 compared to 8.3) it's still 1.5s faster than your old car.

All I can suggest is that you go and sit in the cars if you can't get a test drive (or sit in the passenger seat of a manual car). You could also ask to see if there are any cars available that use the same engine/gearbox combination so you at least try that out?

I should also state that the Astra GTC was introduced in 2011 while the Leon was introduced in 2005 which makes the Astra a much more modern car (aesthetically anyway).

My money would be on the Astra, although my wife is a badge snob so I wasn't allowed anywhere near their showrooms

Thanks so much for all your advice... Called motability today and I've got to wait until 15th Oct to order my next car, so will have to order from the next price list... Let's hope it's good news!

Been in touch with Astra dealer and they are going to arrange a 3 day test drive as they have no autos available for day loan, got a number to call... So that's EXCELLENT service and if the vauxhall is my next car, i'll be ordering from them!?

Regarding the order date, the 15th October is the last day you can order. You can order upto 3 months in advance of that date.
You should receive a letter from Motability saying to start looking, this is when you can order from.

Unless the 3 month date is 15th October and your actual contract end date is 15th January?
