The Apple IPAD MINI - to launch in one hour

This is interesting - before 7pm tonight Apple are expected to launch their new MINI IPAD to knock spots off all tablet competition. I've noticed that the Apple store online has closed at the moment - no doubt it will open after the announcement.

The mobile internet company Everything Everywhere, known as EE, will launch 4G internet services on 30 October in major cities - they've just announced new price bands.

Apple shares tumbled from a high of 700 a few weeks back to 626 at 5.30pm today but Apple is due to announce it's quarterly profits on 27 October - I think the share price will be boosted to over £700 - not that I own any shares - I just find predicting what happens with this company interesting.

If it had been priced competitively perhaps it might have knocked spots off. At £269 it is still over £100 more than the new amazon Kindle Fire HD which is a faster, lighter and more versatile product (eg 2 wifi antennas for better signal coverage and HDMI output for TV viewing). Android apps are as good as Apple ones - there's less choice, but you would struggle to find something that you wanted but there is not an app for. I got a Google Nexus Andriod tablet (£189) recently and it is quicker than the wife's iPad.

It appears that most people were disappointed with the launch due to the mini pads price.

They also updated the imac making it faster and thinner - I notice that they've decided to cut out the DVD/CD slot now as most music, films can be streamed. And larger files can be sent via email or on USB sticks.

Under Steve Jobs everything was kept secret about new phones, tablets and ipods but the new CEO has a new management style and lets everyone know what's happening. I notice the share price took another knock.

Apple has now just become another technologies company -- Steve Jobs was the inspiration that made them innovators of design - now sadly missing.

It seems like something is going to happen on 12 September. Possibly a glimpse of a new iphone5 being launched in America or will Apple launch a new TV I wonder?

    Place your bets . . .
Well as a treat to me I've finally succumbed to temptation. A brand new unlocked Apple iphone5 has just been delivered. It's on the charger. I can't use it yet as I ordered the SIM card separately from 'EE' to get the fast 4G network. I know it's very extravagant but you only live once and I've not had to buy it through WONGA.

I'm looking forward to using both Siri - the voice operated system and composing email, texts etc without touching any buttons - very user friendly. Back when it was launched it got a bad press because Apple's own mapping/GPS wasn't very accurate. But good news - Google Maps have just brought out a new App that's compatible.

    Big boys and our toys!!!

I'm impressed with the new Google maps app, it works really well and only takes a few minutes to get used to.
