    carers allowance and job seekers help please

    hi im on job seekers and just put a claim for carers allowance does anyone no if i should get any back pay?

    would be grateful for any help anyone can give

    You can ask for Carers Allowance to be backdated a maximum of three months if you were caring for someone in that period who got Middle rate care Disability Living Allowance or Attendance Allowance.

    If Carers Allowance backdate that claim, you are entitled to a Carers Premium of £32.60 a week added onto your JSA. Or, you can claim income support as a carer and not sign on.
