DLF’s Equipment Demonstration Centre in Westminster was reopened in January 2011 following extensive refurbishment.
The Centre was one of the first of its kind in the country and is one of the largest in the South East. Every year DLF’s trained staff members help over 2,000 older and disabled people and their families find appropriate items of equipment that can help them lead active, independent lives at home. The centre has everything from stairlifts to bathlifts, scooters to wheelchairs, jar openers to memory aids for people to try without any sales pressure.
Refurbishment started on the Centre in 2010 in order to meet the changing needs and aspirations of its visitors. New lighting was fitted, new carpeting laid, and completely new bathroom and kitchen sections installed so that visitors may see and try equipment in context.
Chris Shaw, Chief Executive, DLF said “The centre provides a very important service for the local community. Daily living equipment such as mobility products can be expensive so it’s important people can come and try out equipment and get advice from professionals before buying. We are very pleased with the new look centre and would encourage any local residents who may have equipment needs to visit”.
