Question regarding Carers Allowance and Work focused Interview

I care for my husband who gets HRC, but I wasnt aware I would be called in for a Work Focused Interview when I applied for CA. I also get DLA ( LRM ) and we are both on IS with teh disability premium ) . Can anyone tell me what happens at one of these interviews ? I find it strange being called it for a work interview when Im also on DLA and IS. Would this also set of a review of my own DLA claim. I suppose what I'm saying. Have I opened a can of worms and put my own DLA claim in jeopardy by applying for CA.

WFIs are part of the claim process for many claimants now, they are routine, You have to attend, unless the adviser agrees otherwise, and must participate in the inerview. You do not have to follow any suggestions though even if you agree to at the time. If you would find it difficult to attend for any reason or feel it is of no use, you can contact the adviser beforehand, and they may agree to defer or waive the appointment. If you intend to do this you must do so prior to the appointment, simply not attending may affect your claim. There are different rules for some other benefits,

Lots of DLA claimants are carers and claim CA for looking after another person. Being a carer should have no effect on your own DLA claim.

    Hi Mr B

Nice to see you too. I'm ok thanks, hope you are as well. I'll be around as and when I can, life is busy right now.

I haven't found the smileys yet either.

According to the notes for Carers Allowance a work focused interview is not compulsory unless you are also claiming Carer's Premium (Income Support)

''While you are getting Carer’s Allowance, you can have a work-
focused interview with a personal adviser at Jobcentre Plus.
You do not have to have an interview, but the adviser can talk
to you about part-time employment or training.''

I am no expert but I would say its the IS part of your benefit claim that triggers the interview

not seen much on forums of both people getting dla and one then going for ca but when its been spoke of, the way its put is that ones persons disability compliments the other so someone with mental health problems could care for someone unable to make a meal or bath or needs help getting about

not sure what you would do if both cant make a meak

To put simply if you only claim Carer's Allowance the Work Focused Interview is not mandatory if you claim the Carer's Premium(Income Support) it is.
