    welfare rights officer

    Hi.My nephew is going to apply for DLA but he would like some help filling the forms in. Someone told him that the Welfare Rights Officer would help him but he does'nt know where to get in touch with them.Does any of you good people know how he could contact them.

    Information on the service in his area should be on the local authority (Metropolitan or County Council) website BarbieJane, if not first port of call might be the local social services dep't who might be able to assist in getting them to help faster by referring him on.

    More often than not this is a service provided by thew LA, but like all such services now either severely over-stretched and/or restricting just who they will assist though so as a back up make sure he gets in contact with others too particular if their is a group covering his particular disability/impairment locally that might have deeper insight into his needs than a WRO.

    If you cannot find your welfare right officer pop down to the CAB, they will have all the contacts you will need.

    Your local Law Centre usually have a WRO.
    You could try DIAL as well.
