    blind/ visual impaired new technology

Hello folks, well as an avid Applemac follower for years it doesn't surprise me to find that their built in accessible technology is ahead of the pack. Being the innovators of technology they have always put the needs of disabled people at the front. Other companies follow - but don't take my word for it - read on . . .

PS Apple will be launching a new system software called 'Lion' in the summer which will be leaving PC system software in their wake as usual.

PPS Did you know that the original 'Window' platforms was just a copycat version of Apple's OS System software many moons ago. Here's a picture of my first Applemac called the LC - a bit boring to look at due to Steve Jobs having left the company.

My next mac - the G3 - stored away

Then the G4 - my parents now use

And finally my two year old imac - the computer is built in behind the screen - a thing of beauty from any angle and it works.

Sorry if I've offended anyone by my love of technology - it must have something to do with the two glasses of wine I've had this evening. Hic!

    Goodnight all and enjoy

Sorry - not true. The first MS windows predated the original Mac by a few months. Apple tried to claim that Win-doze was a rip off from their previous computer & OS - the Lisa. However, the case fell apart in US courts when it was proven that both Apple and MS actually used a technology patented some ten years earlier by Xerox and used for engineering drawing applications.

Hi Keith, I'm sure you're right - I guess everything needs to develop from something but it's Apple who saw the potential and put ideas into practice. They produced computers aimed at designers and creatives who weren't interested in MS DOS. Big yawn.

In the Summer they will be leaping ahead yet again with a new release called Lion. Looks like Windows will yet again crib ideas from them to produce an inferior product.

Out of interest three out of four IT geeks at work who HAD to use PCs at work owned Applemacs at home - I wonder why?
