    well good for you... i'm in constant pain but i haven't lost my sense of humour perhaps you could google yourself one, instead of telling me i think its fine to scam others or i should be ashamed of myself.... for what?

    Why can't you see your comment "Linda waits for the link where i can get more info for only $249.99 for first installment and the rest for only $499 a month......." is inflammatory?

    Everyone knows that you can get vitamin D3 from sunshine for free so why assume anyone would be stupid enough to ask for huge amounts for basic common sense information.

    I don't think there is anything funny or humorous in the idea that I post online to make money.

    If you are in constant pain then it may be smarter to try to learn from those who were in constant pain but who have learn't how do improve their inflammatory status and response sufficiently to live without pain and without the use of any prescribed medication.

    If you are not interested in understanding the science behind pain then don't read my posts and don't try to stop other's taking them seriously or learning from them.

    It should be obvious that Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, NSAIDs work by reducing inflammation and there are other natural ways of reducing inflammation that don't involve prescriptions for anti-inflammatory drugs.

    Correcting common micronutrient deficiency states and raising Vitamin D3, omega 3 and magnesium status to the level human DNA evolved to function best with shouldn't be regarded as an eccentric idea but simple common sense.

    We know perfectly well People with the lowest vitamin D status feel the most pain so why is it such a peculiar notion that improving vitamin d status to the natural level naked humans living in the tropic naturally attain and maintain reduces the level of pain sensitivity?
    It's cheap enough to try even if you aren't prepared to lay naked in the midday sun and get it for free.

    Ted is not a spammer. He just has a bee in his bonnet about Vitamin D which crops up periodically. If you don't like his opinions may I respectfully suggest that you don't read the posts.

    In fact more people are harmed by having levels of vitamin D that are too low than too high.
    The only endangering of life that occurs is from too little vitamin D3.
    Naturally humans attain and maintain a 25(OH)D level around 60ng/ml 150nmol/l if they lived mainly outdoor lives wearing the minimum of clothing.

    You can see that in the UK average levels for vitamin D are about a third or at best half the natural level.
    That's why human breast milk is never vitamin D replete. It should be and naturally it would be but to get to that natural level while wearing clothes and living mainly indoor lives we need an extra 5000iu/daily vitamin D3 at least.

    bear in mind those figures come mainly from the USA where they get more sun and hotter sun.
    But those people who have been taking advantage of the recent UK sunny weather should be feeling better and less pain.
    Providing you NEVER burn it's a good idea to get as much sun as possible and if you can't then taking an EQUIVALENT amount in supplement form (providing it's D3 cholecalciferol and not the stuff doctors use ERGOCALCIFEROL vitamin D2 the plant form)
    Bear in mind also that low vitamin D status is associated with cognitive impairment and the earlier onset of Alzheimer's so it's not a smart idea to avoid the sun.

    What actually causes the damage that leads to sunburn is the IRON in your skin. If you became a blood donor then you'd be losing iron regularly and have lower risk of oxidative damage. It's why women live longer than men, most of their lives they are losing blood (iron) each month, it's when they stop (post menopause) that the ageing process in women accelerates. It would be smart if ALL women were advised to become blood donors when they reach this point. If men were a bit smarter they'd all become blood donors as young as possible and continue as long as possible. If you are under 66yrs old you can start blood donation and continue giving blood but they don't take new donor over 66yrs old.

    All the stuff I've been talking about, vitamin D, omega 3, curcumin, resveratrol, melatonin are ANTI OXIDANTS and they help prevent ageing (and sunburn) by keeping you protected from the effects of excess iron and oxidative damage.
    Magnesium comes into the story because low magnesium level allow the body to absorb too much iron.
    Magnesium deficiency leads to iron toxicity
    Most people consume less that half the current magnesium RDA and that is far too low.
    Ideally around 500mg~700mg daily magnesium would be best and it's difficult to get that much from modern foods.

    Well according to that information I am going to die early as I had a hysterectomy very young and cannot donate blood because of the morphine that I take - thanks Ted LOL

    Oh and I love the sun and regularly get burnt

    I would have thought that now you understand the driving forces of ageing are INFLAMMATION, OXIDATION, GLYCATION and STRESS you would be better able to take action to slow those forces.

    But I'm sure you appreciate that humans evolved living mainly outdoors and mainly wearing the minimum of clothing. So the fact you love the sun is an indication that your DNA is set to encourage your to go into the sun but the fact your burn readily is an indication your skin has become maladapted to it's natural habitat.

    All is not lost. Having a hysterectomy young puts you on equal terms with men and the fact you are not permitted to donate blood simply eliminates one of the options available to reduce the potential for oxidation. As I've pointed out there are many different iron chelators that bind with iron and stop it behaving badly.
    Until such time as you have improved your skin's ability to withstand the sun without burning you will need to take particular care NOT TO BURN, but providing you understand the basics I'm sure you'll manage.
    Perhaps if I explain about the way UVA converts vitamin D into suprasterols the body doesn't use and the skin makes vitamin D from the action of UVB on 7-dehydrocholesterol just under the surface of the skin. Huge amounts of vitamin D are created in a very short time so long sun exposures are not required BUT because of the action of UVA if you want to allow time for the newly made vitamin D to be absorbed before it suffers degradation to suprasterols you need to cover that skin as soon as possible.
    The skin that makes most vitamin D is the skin that is least tanned.
    Because the least tanned skin is usually covered that suits our purpose the best because the sooner vitamin D is protected from UVA the more chance it has of being absorbed.
    Statins action on the cholesterol lowering front occur before the synthesis of 7-dehydrocholesterol so taking statins obviously lowers your vitamin D production potential.

    People who tell you to expose only hands and face to sunlight are misleading you because unless you wear a burka or gloves you have no effective way of protecting hands and face from UVA. So the best skin to expose for a short duration is the trunk front and back and turn every 5 minutes for about 20mins so each side just get 10mins. Then cover up and protect that vitamin D3. Do cover up sooner if you start going even the slightest bit pink.
    It would help if over the winter you could get SHORT UV exposure from a sunlamp. It certainly toughens the skin and raises vitamin D status sufficiently to reduce the chance of burning in the summer sun. But raising vitamin d status with effective strength Vitamin D3 supplements does the same job.

    I'm sure you are well aware of the dangers of sunscreen.

    The best time to lay near naked in the sunshine is around midday when the ratio of UVB to UVA is highest. So you get the most vitamin d for the least UVA exposure. Getting sunlight early morning or late afternoon is obviously counterproductive because there is little if any UVB to create vitamin D and too much UVA so it gets converted to suprasterols the body doesn't use before it gets the chance of being absorbed.

    I've been out all day so not sufficient time to finish this post. I'll add some more on this topic tomorrow.

    Would you say that this comment is a 'generalisation' because nobody would advocate to go sunbathing at noon at the equator!

    Siestas are called for during the hottest hours between 11 and 1pm - only mad dogs and Englishmen venture into the sun at those times.

    And like Nigella Lawson recently seem swimming on Bondi Beach, Australia wearing 'burka' type swim-wear to protect her skin. As I'm sure you're aware Ted, their is a massive ozone hole over Australia that affords NO protection against the harmful rays of the sun AND you're advised to stay out of it.

    Nigella will retain her youthful looking skin by keeping out of the sun - but she'll still burn the tops of her feet when she goes paddling.

    I am suggesting the mods put a heading in the Health forum that members seek professional help from qualified medicals, especially where something as dangerous as sitting in the mid-day sun half naked is suggested as 'the best time'.

    It's not only idioic but irresponsible, given the warnings about skin cancer!
