intimated in to leasing a car which is no good and adpations not fitting right help!!

hi im Diane and i need advice big time, i give quick info, i got grant for electric seat due to disability and my tiny height 4ft 8, i went in to look at a corsa sxi auto, i said to the mobility dealer that im looking at the corsa on mobility, he guided me to his table, i showed him im intitiled to it mobility car and grant and what i need for adaptions, he started to type on his computer i asked if he had the model so i could sit in etc he said no, he continued to type away, told me the se was a better model etc, he took copies of my letters, in end said your car is ordered be here in 8 to 10wks time, i said i aint sat in one let alone test drove one, well i was ignored really, well car arrived mid of may went for test drive begining june with out adaptions, test drive was for 1 mile or under, in straight road, right round roundabout back to car show room, well said its to hight for me to get in to still (i have problems with left side and need a low down car sill hight lower). still was ignored, well car seat fitted and this 5inch back swap for seat to make me seat so my knees bend at the seat, still had trouble getting in to the car, well no more could be done, i was given the car with out so much as a test drive with the adaptions, i got few mins down the road and was in soo much pain, i got home and ended up in bed for 2 and a bit days in agony, i rang them up and said i was slipping cos the padded seat thing had no side wings on and i had no protection, oh an also the padding of the side of the seat was removed to give me a few inches less struggle to get in, (no help).. well my son removed the tangled tie up bits of thick string stuff, i then thought i should be ok, well wrong again, i drove for 5mins and my left side back hip was in pain soo much, i couldnt drive, spent more days in bed an popping morphine, my third and last attemp was on monday, i put the foam padded bit of the seat next to me to see if that kept me in place, well no joy, i was in tears due to pain an said to my son it feels and looks like my bottom and legs are to the left of the car not in the middle, well cut long story short when we got home he took good look at it and said yes its a few inches towards the left, so no wonder i was streathing still even more to get into the car now i sussed i had been driving at an angle, no wonder in in so much pain, well that was monday and ive just managed to get out of bed, still in pain tho, popped so many morpine pills my doc will go made... well all along i have been in touch with my grants worker and he been in touch with adaptions, still no joy, not heard from adaption bloke since last wk and now my grants helper on leave again til next tue, so ive a car im paying for and i cant drive it, i told them from the start that i need lower car can they advise me what to get, said nissan cause thats what i test drove at the mobility medical place, it was an old ish car and i needed help getting in to it, ive been let down by them all and am really upset by this, oh also for me to reach the floor of a car i have a 4inch padded thing so feet touch floor..... so can anyone please advise me what i can do please... oh and with the electric stuff in the car once it was fitted i was told no one can sit behind me due to all the frame work so lost a seat so no family trips out... why dont they inform us what they intend to do, why dont they listen to what we say and what wont work? they think they no what is best but they dont and cant feel the pain that we can when we try to get a suitable car..... i feel totaly let down, i had none of this when i got my first mobility car but this time around it has gone totaly wrong and they dont seem to want to no.... where do i go from here??????

OK this not unusual these days I have had a motability car for about 20 years and to be honest of late I've noticed car dealers do not like us test driving vehicles, I wanted to have a vauxhaul Astra 1.6 SXI but by the time they finished talking to me I had the big Vauxhaul Insignia which is to large for me and to expensive to run.

But what should you do well you can always ask for Motability to take it back, this might make them listen to you and act on your behalf.

I suspect if you explain to them what's gone wrong and you can say it's happened to other people like myself perhaps they take the car back and allow you to choose another one.

But look you do need to find a garage you can trust, my FRF garage in Swansea is brilliant I get the car to test drive on my own nobody with me and I can go for an hour to test it so I take it on a long run. Last year i went to a garage which was closer to my home and they refused to allow me to test drive the vehicle saying they had lost the keys, then a lady asked could she take the test car out he said yes the keys are on the desk, he looked at me and stated OK look disabled people tend to be bad drivers, I have passed my Advanced driving test, how the hell can I be bad, but it's a rule they have, Ford and another two garages i went to all stated I could sit in the Car but they refused to allow me to take out a test drive.

So what can you do phone Motability explain to the person, explain the car is no good to you, explain you were refused a test drive and you were put under pressure, I suspect so long as the vehicle has not been damaged they will change it for another for you, or they will sort out the adaption.

hi wow thank god someone is listening to me, i have told the grants department i cant drive her and take her back said in the short of it NO! i have emailed them 20 pics that say all that is not suitable with her, i am still awaiting a phone call from the mangerss to complain, that is since 9.15am was getting back to me once she finished with a call she was on!!!! long bloody call.... who do i ring an tell to take the car back, as all ive been talkin to is the grants department and my so call support worker and he is no good..... do you have a number i can ring to be honest ive cried so much in pain an took so many morphine pills i cant go on like this..... they no i cant drive the car but im paying for it so that dont make sense paying for nout i cant bleeding drive..... i feel like ive been bullied into something i cant use.... im surprised to hear that this test drive thing goes on... that is so wrong, when i got my first mobility car, chrysler the mobility bloke was wonderful... he even got me a fab deal on a car... i was looking at the cruiser cars, american ones lol.... well back then i could get in an out of car ok.... he said they had a comfortable one that was auto... wow i said but was £1.500 advance payment,,, well i said nar cant afford that a normal one will do,,,, he rang me next day to say if i want the comfortable one they will knock a grand of it lol... plus it was the only automatic one on site so he gave me fab test drive in it on a warm sat afternoon with hood down hahahaha (poser or what)!!!! well i fell in love with my tart mobile, she had electric leather seats all the works and a bargin for £500 advance which mum paid for... so there are some fab dealers out there, and i had not one problem with her, i had her from august 07 until last month due to waiting for new motor..... so i got carried away... i get back on to the subject im having now..... do you no why the grants department are being so un helpful? i did say wouldnt it be best to get a car with an electric seat already fitted an work from that, but no had to get basic car and then do all the adaptions that way.... weird aint it???? they say cause they have already paid a grant of £2.668 towards adaptions its a lot of money to waist and they will do what they can which aint a lot,,,, they even said how about putting a lower sports seat in to the car.. so now ive lost a back passenger seat and gona have odd seating,,, and the adptions said it be hard to move seat over more to the right but if they can i will lose doors panel etc,,, what a complete mess..... ive been house bound since last monday and only got out once since then this monday and since bed ridden.... so please please if you have a contact number that can really give me more help i be so greatful... thanks Diane x x x

    Misuse of the Car Scheme
Misuse of the Motability Scheme is something we take very seriously. We rely on the general public, customers, police, Department for Work and Pensions, and others to help us put a stop to it. Every report of misuse we receive is carefully assessed and, if proven, acted upon. Typical examples of misuse include:

    Using the car for crime
Denying its use to the disabled person
Using the car as a taxi or delivery vehicle
    Driving uninsured or whilst banned
    Sub-leasing or selling the car
Allowing the car to become unroadworthy.
You can report misuse to us either anonymously or, preferably, by giving your name in complete confidence so we can discuss it with you further if necessary. If you want to report something, please use the Reporting misuse form, call us on 0845 456 4566 or email spu@motability.co.uk If you represent the police, a local authority or other body concerned with combating fraud, please call 01279 632233 for a guidance booklet.

I believe you do not worry, I've seen some fine example of adaptions in my time. do not give up and if you keep meeting a blank go see the trading standards officer , who should be at your local council, speak to your MP.
