    'Handicap' - now there's a word I've not heard for a while.

It refers to disabled people when they had to beg for support as in 'cap in hand'.

Hi to all I am new here and cruise every year, sometimes a disabled friend comes with me.
Royal Caribbean --- we recently cruised on the Independance of the Seas and my friend had an accessible room. It over looked the promanade, The room was large enough for her to get around in her powered wheelchair, there was a huge comfy bed, the bathroom (wet room) was also plenty big enough. The shower had a pull down seat if needed, there was also a telephone in the bathroom.
You would find staff very helpful and would be able to access the ship. There is also a seat available if you can transfer into it to access one of the hot tubs. We enjoyed it so much we have booked to go again on this ship next year.
We have also used legend of the Seas and the Navigator of the Seas, both are equally accessible.
    Go and enjoy!

The same way as other passengers by the gang plank, sometimes the ship will have a seperate lower one just for wheelchair users and people with walking difficulties if the main gangway is steep. There are always staff at both ends to help --- and they will!
