    @Belvederebabe

    There are difficult times ahead for those of us claiming disability benefits & their carers.The best thing to do is educate ourselves about our benefits,the proposed changes & to keep up to date with them.

    News from the DWP:

    http://www.dwp.gov.uk/newsroom/top-stories/ (scroll down for links)

    For IB claimants:

    http://www.dwp.gov.uk/adviser/update...sment-process/

    The Work Capability Assessment (ESA)

    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Disabled.../esa/DG_172012 (Scroll down for a PDF download for the guide)

    Proposed ESA amendment regulations 2011:

    There is quite a bit of reading above & some of it is complicated,however it does help to familarise us with the rules & regulations concerning IB,ESA & some of the proposed changes to the benefit system.

    They are quite long & some are complicated,disabled people have enough to deal with as it is without all these changes,but it is important that we understand our benefits & have something we can to refer to.

    My mental health (and quite often my physical health) takes a nose dive everytime I have to deal with the DWP/ATOS/Tribunals.
    As it happens on a regular basis, it has hindered recovery greatly.

    I wonder if any one in power has stopped to think how their approach could be making people iller for longer, hence on benefits for longer...
