I have had 36 people now who have sent emails to MP's and will carry on for as long as possible, but you would be surprised how many disabled people who think it's not going to affect them, they are disabled it's the cheats who are going to be hit not them.
I have been trying my hardest to get people to take notice even people who are working, who it MAY NOT effect now but could do in the future.. anyone can become long term sick or disabled, but in their eyes they don't care cos at this time it does not effect them either.. I have written to My MP who forwarded my letters to Chris Grayling and Maria Miller ( thinks that's right, mind gone blank again) and what did I get two bog standard replies and I even felt the one from Chris Grayling a bit patronising...However some MPs are listening and every letter to one of those helps..

People on means tested benefit will be affected first of all they will all end up on JSA, the means testing will mean the new rent act could see them paying part of the rent from their benefits, and if as it looks that JSA could be time limited then how about staving to death as a reason to write
Yes maybe but people on time limited ESA get nothing...they still have bills to pay and we won't be getting free dental treatment or prescriptions.. no pdsa ...( to help with the vet bills) still have to pay the mortgage and council tax...and eat..and don't tell me that means testing is fair... you know that that the amount that people are expected to live on are far less than SOME people get on means tested benefits..

Those of us who will have nothing would be happy to get job seekers if they were able to and someone was willing to employ them, which they won't .Job seekers is not a lot less than I get now anyway... at least then we would still have some independence and not have to rely on their partner for a bar of chocolate even..
Makes us no more than kids begging for some sweetsnot to mention the burden that is put on the partner..and don't give me all that " in sickness and health rubbish" .....

That is because the Government are feeding us the line that "This Government does not regard caring for the needy as a burden, but as a proud duty" and are saying that "Those who are disabled have nothing to fear". It is surprising (and very frightening) how many people actually believe this! They will learn in time but unfortunately it will be too late then.

I already know I'm not entitled to income support, housing benefit, state pension, pension credit, council tax rebate, prescriptions - you name it I can't claim it. The trouble is I don't have back up from a partner. They'll just add NI contributions which is a waste as I've already built up the minimum NI contributions. I'll be fine and survive for a couple of years. They want you to pay your way but I'm going to be throwing thousands away of my savings every year just to stay afloat - then what happens?
A lodger will help plug the gap but inflation will erode my pension and savings anyway. We're all doomed Captain Mannering. lol

Sorry Lighttouch not been well for a few days. The situation your in reminds me very much of old people that have worked all their lives being forced to sell their homes to fund care.
